All electrical installation work carried out by JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd will comply with BS7671:2008 amendment 3 2015 and will comply with applicable Part P building regulations.
All certification issued will only cover works installed by JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd. In the event of works requiring modification to existing circuits the price for work required will be based on the current installation being of an acceptable standard. The price will include testing of the installation to confirm this but any faults found or remedial work required will be invoiced separately.
Installation work is very disruptive and requires lifting of floor coverings and chasing of wall surfaces. Best endeavors will be made to avoid damaging floor coverings and will be refitted to an acceptable standard however the client will be responsible for any costs relating to specialist re-fitting. The removal and re-fitting of floor coverings by JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd is on a no-liability basis.
Chases to walls can be filled if agreed during the quotation process or will otherwise be left for client to arrange skimming of walls. Any finish left by JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd will be brought to the current plaster level and redecoration will be arranged by the client.
The work area will be left clean and tidy. Due to the nature of installation work, dust particles can remain for several weeks after completion of the work so additional cleaning by the client should be expected. It is advisable that any electrical equipment such as TV’s, Stereo’s, DVD players, computers etc be removed from the work area by the client prior to commencement of work.
Consumer Unit Upgrades:
New Consumer Unit (fuse board) Installations require a full Periodic Inspection and test of the current electrical installation to ensure it is safe to connect to the new consumer unit. This is a legal requirement under Part P Building Regulations. The inspection and testing costs are included in the cost of the installation however any faults or remedial work required will be brought to the client’s attention and invoiced separately.
Any unsafe circuits can only be connected to the new consumer unit once remedial work has been completed.
It is also common to find main bonding conductors to Gas; Water or Oil supplies require installation. This is especially common on properties built during or prior to the early 1970s and again these are at additional cost unless agreed otherwise beforehand.
Where installation work requires access under floors it is the client’s responsibility to ensure the work area is clear. In the event time is taken by JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd to clear access to the work area this is not included in the quote and may be invoiced separately depending on amount of work time lost.
In the event of disconnection of power to a work area, it may be necessary for clocks or timers to be reset on completion of work. It is the client’s responsibility to do this. It may also be necessary to disconnect electrical items from sockets. JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd will try to ensure all electrical items are plugged in and working on completion of work before leaving the premises. However it is the client’s responsibility to check all items are plugged in and switched on as we will not be held responsible for any losses due any electrical item being left without power.
All rubble, general waste and packaging will be separated into recyclable and non recyclable waste and bagged accordingly. JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd are not responsible for the removal from site and disposal of waste.
All quotes are based on continuous and unhindered access to the site by prior arrangement with the client and based on standard working hours between 08:00am to 17:30pm Monday to Friday. JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd are happy to work around the clients working hours but work quoted outside of these hours will attract premium rates.
Any additional work highlighted outside of the price quoted following a site survey will be invoiced separately once agreed with the client.
Initial site surveys and simple quotes are free. If a quote requires an element of fault finding to establish the level of work required this can be arranged at the standard rate of fault finding.
Should a detailed quote or visual report be required (usually for insurance purposes) an administration charge will apply. Any work resulting from a detailed quote or visual report will receive a discount on the total price quoted for the work. All quotes are valid for a period of 30 days from the date of issue.
For work arranged on a specific date and time a 30% deposit is required for large jobs over £200. A deposit by its nature is a form of security and not refundable.
Instruction to work:
An instruction to carry out work, whether written or verbal, shall be taken as an acceptance of these terms and conditions unless the work is subject to different terms and conditions in a written contract.
Out of hours/Emergency response works cannot be cancelled once arranged, if works are subsequently cancelled charges will still apply.
Since October 2008 there is currently a 7 day right to cancel for customers having works carried out in their residence. This does not apply to business transactions such as commercial works or work arranged in a property that is being let or will be let. If works are arranged outside of the house (over the phone/via email) there is no cooling off period applicable.
As a result of this JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd are unable to commence any works within a 7 day period following the issue of a quote unless the client signs the “Cancellation of Contracts made in a consumers home or place of work 2008”
Once work is arranged, and a deposit taken, a contract is formed and JC Electrical Solutions guarantee a slot in the works schedule. We usually have to refuse other work as a result of arranging a slot in the diary; if work is cancelled we may levy a charge.
In the event of cancellation we may still charge for up to the value of the works (less the cost of any unused materials).
If cancellation is informed within 72 hours, 100% of the value of the work (less the cost of any unused materials – with the exception below) will be levied.
If delayed start date occurs, any Cancellation charges will be at the discretion of JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd.
When work is arranged we will generally order materials for the work. Some materials may be non-returnable (special order, or cut cable for example) and these will be charged.
Risk and Title of Goods:
The risk in all goods supplied shall pass to the Client upon delivery to site. All materials shall remain the property of JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd until final payment is received for completed work.
All work carried out by JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd carries a 12 month warranty from the date of final invoice. This excludes goods supplied by others, physical damage, willful misuse or instances where it is found that the installation has been altered or tampered with by third parties. Also excluded are wear and tear, lamps and fuses.
Projects involving other trades, any damage to the electrical installation caused by third parties remain the responsibility of the client. Rectification costs associated to any damage will be invoiced to the client prior to commencement of further electrical work.
Unless agreed in writing, payment in full should be made on completion of the specified works for Domestic work and within 14 days for contract work. Payments can be made by cash, cheque or electronic bank transfer.
For larger projects a deposit for materials will be agreed during the quoting process along with payment intervals.
Renovation projects and larger projects involving separate first and second fix works, a deposit and payment intervals will be agreed following a site survey and during the quotation process.
Only once final payments have been received will JWC Electrical Solutions Ltd issue all relevant Certification and Notification to building control.
